Message from the Conference Chair

Welcome to the International Conference for Bankers and Academics 2016 (ICBA 2016), Dhaka. Bangladesh Institute of Bank Management (BIBM) and Australian Academy of Business and Social Sciences (AABSS) are the two key organisers of this conference. The harmony in objectives of both the BIBM and AABSS was instrumental to have organised this joint effort in order to present three high quality professional workshops in banking and finance. Also, the intrinsic objective of this joint effort is to promote scholarly research and publication in the areas of banking and finance in particular and business and social sciences at large. This is a joint effort by Australian Academy of Business and Social Sciences (AABSS), Bangladesh Institute of Bank Management (BIBM) and Journal of Developing Areas (JDA) to promote current ideas that are important for global bankers and academics. Its objective also includes the dissemination of knowledge and networking with relevant stakeholders in order to inform and motivate the participants for strategic thinking and actions. Expert supports from Tennessee State University, University of South Australia and Central Queensland University have complemented to the tangible and intangible resources required for organising this conference by BIBM and AABSS.

The Academy, founded by a group of Australian academics is based on the belief that excellence in research and publication is the key to benefiting academics, businesses, society and other relevant stakeholders at local, national, regional and international levels. The Academy works with partners throughout the world and builds networks between research and publication, academic and society, the government and private sector, and across diverse interest groups. It organises international conferences and publishes scholarly research articles in peer reviewed journals and proceedings.

The Academy is also proud to be partner with the Journal of Developing Areas. Under the partnership agreement between Tennessee State University and AABSS a number of high quality papers from ICBA 2016, Dhaka will be published in the form of a Special Issue of the Journal of Developing Areas. Some papers, which do not meet the requirements of The Journal of Developing Areas, will be published in two AABSS journals: Australian Journal of Business and Social Sciences and Australian Journal of Sustainable Business and Society.

This conference held in Dhaka, Bangladesh in September 2016 is the fifth gathering of researchers under the banner of the Academy. We welcome researchers from around the world. In this conference, academics from four continents including North America, Africa, Australia, and Asia have gathered to share their latest research and ideas. Papers presented here in this proceeding cover all areas of banking, finance, business and management as well as a number of other areas in the social sciences. In particular, you will find papers discussing recent trends in capital market, banking, finance, economics, management, marketing and international business. All papers presented here have been through a rigorous blind peer-review process ensuring the academic quality and relevance.
Thank you for your contribution to and participation in this conference.
